Best of 2012

Moonrise Kingdom, Wes Anderson

Este ano foi cheio de filmes incríveis e não me fartei de deliciar com a sétima arte mas quando vi o Moonrise Kingdom, realizado por um dos meus realizadores favoritos, não consegui resistir à deliciosa imagem e à terna história contada de uma forma tão ingénua que me fez derreter o coração. Sem dúvida o favorito (ou um dos favoritos) deste ano.

This year was full of amazing movies and the seventh art was just delightful but when I watched Moonrise Kingdom, directed by one of my favorite directors, I couldn't resist the beautiful picture and the sweet and naive history that just melt my heart. Definitely the favorite movie (or one of the favorites) of the year.

Pastels

Eu não sou propriamente daquele tipo de pessoas que corre atrás das trends mal elas saiam nas lojas. Gosto de me manter fiel ao meu estilo e de ir incluindo as tendências que realmente gosto no meu guarda-roupa da forma mais sábia possível. Não gosto que o meu guarda-roupa tenha prazo de validade mas a verdade é que nesta Primavera/Verão não consegui resistir à loucura dos pastéis. Essas deliciosas tonalidades estiveram sem dúvida muito presentes no meu armário e tenho a certeza que mal o tempo quente volte, essas cores vão voltar a sair à rua por aqui.

I'm not exactly a part of those group of people that run after the trends right on the moment they are available on the stores. I like to be faithful to my personal style and to smoothly and wisely include those trends I like in my wardrobe. I don't like my wardrobe to have an expiration date but the truth is that this Spring/Summer I couldn't resist the pastels madness. These delicious shades were definitely a very present part of my wardrobe and I'm sure as soon as the warm weather arrives, I will take those colors back to the streets.

Girls

Esta série não é daquelas séries fáceis de gostar logo após ver o primeiro episódio mas quando da-mos uma segunda oportunidade, torna-se das melhores séries de sempre. Girls é para mim um dos marcos mais importantes de 2012 e a Lena Dunham uma das pessoas mais influentes. Passada em Nova Iorque e com histórias quão as quais nos podemos facilmente identificar, Girls vai voltar já no início de 2013 e não duvido que seja também uma das séries favoritas do novo ano.

These series are not those kind of series we can easily like on the first episode but when we give it a second chance, it becomes one of the best series ever. Girls is for me on the most important marks of 2012 and Lena Dunham one of the most influent people. It takes place in New York and the stories are really easy to relate these days. Girls is getting back in the beggining of 2013 and I'm sure it will also be one of my new year's favorites.

Alt-J

Não foram formados em 2012 mas foi este ano que lançaram o álbum que mais ouvi. Quem passou tempo comigo sabe que o An Awesome Wave foi uma presença fulcral no meu Verão (mas não só) e que as músicas foram cantaroladas nas mais diversas situações durante meses e meses sem parar. Quem ainda não ouviu que o faça agora mesmo, não esperem por 2013.

They weren't formed in 2012 but it was in this year that they released the album I listened to the most. Those who spent some time with me know that An Awesome Wave was a central presence in my summer (but not only) and that the songs were singed in the most different situations for months and months without stoping. Those who haven't listened to it yet, do it now and don't wait for 2013.

Kling

No ano passado talvez teria dito que a melhor loja era a Modcloth mas este ano o meu coração e os meus olhos não conseguiram resistir ao encanto das colecções da Kling cujos conceitos tiveram tudo a ver com as coisas que gosto como é o caso da série Twin Peaks. Esta loja espanhola foi sem dúvida a melhor de 2012 para mim.

Last year I would probably say that my favorite store was Modcloth but this year both my heart and eyes couldn't resist the charm of the Kling collections that were very inspired in things I love such as the series Twin Peaks. This spanish store was definitely one of the best of 2012 for me.

Little Henry Lee

Uma das coisas mais importantes para mim num blog é a fotografia e a Jessica sabe melhor do que ninguém como encantar as pessoas através dessa arte. Este ano descobri o Little Henry Lee e tornou-se automaticamente um dos meus favoritos de sempre pelo gosto incrível da Jessica (quem é fã do Nick Cave sobe logo na minha consideração), pelas maravilhosas fotografias analógicas que ela partilha e pelos pequenos detalhes da sua vida que nos fazem sonhar.

One of the most important things for me on a blog is the photography and Jessica knows better than anyone how to catch people's attention through that art. This year I discovered Little Henry Lee and it became right away one of my favorites ever because of the amazing taste Jessica has (how can I not like a person who loves Nick Cave?), for the amazing analogic photos she takes and shares and for the little details of her life that make us dream.

Kiss Me Quick

Não foi este ano que descobri o blog da Carina e da Carla nem foi este ano que se tornou um dos meus favoritos mas a verdade é que com a quantidade absurda que blogs portugueses que andam a aparecer (e que eu apoio fortemente) é importante distinguir aqueles que nos trazem algo de novo e fresco. Como já disse anteriormente, a fotografia num blog é das coisas mais importantes para mim e as meninas do Kiss Me Quick sabem melhor do que ninguém como o fazer. Por isso tudo e muito mais elas merecem um cantinho especial nos melhores de 2012.

It wasn't this year I discovered Carla's and Carina's blog and it wasn't this year that it became one of my favorites mas the truth is that with the ridiculous amount of portuguese blogs appearing (and that I strongly support) it's important to distinguish the ones that bring us something fresh and new. As I said before, the photography on a blog is one of the most important things for me and the Kiss Me Quick girls know better than anyone how to do it. Because of that and much more they deserve a special spot on my favorites of 2012.

So Long Summer

English: I cheered so much the arriving of autumn that I almost forgot to say goodbye to the summer. In general, I never really liked summer, I find it too long and too boring! However, this year I decided not to be mean to it (or maybe him? I like to think that the seasons of the year are real human beings) and try to look back and remember all the good moments I spent at the season I dislike the most. Oh, and guess what?

Português: Tanto aclamei a chegada to Outono que nem seque me depedi do Verão. Em geral, nunca gostei muito do Verão, acho-o sempre demasiado longo e aborrecido! No entanto, este ano decidi não ser mázinha para ele e olhar e tentar recordar todos os bons momentos que passei na estação do ano que menos gosto. E não é que até descobri alguns?

Magenta

English: During easter vacation me and my darling Paulinha went to a more than lovely pastry house in Guimarães. The name is Magenta and the unique ambience, the feminine decoration and the smell of hot cakes in the air made us travel to the pâtisseries of Paris. There I ate one of the most delicious cakes ever and a few days later we had to come back. This time the company was one of the most marvellous teas I ever tried. The unpredictable flavors and the sympathy of the girl who served us was the touch that was missing and the promisse to return there is well established in our intentions! Therefore, if you ever go to Guimarães don't forget to try the delicious home made cakes and the thousands of tea flavors they have available.

Português: Nas férias da Páscoa eu e a minha querida Paulinha fomos a uma pastelaria mais do que amorosa em Guimarães. O seu nome é Magenta e o seu ambiente único, decoração feminina e o cheiro a bolos quentes no ar faz-nos viajar até às pâtisseries de Paris. Lá provei um dos bolinhos mais deliciosos de sempre e dias depois tivemos de voltar. Desta vez a companhia foi um dos mais maravilhosos chás que já tomei. Sabores imprevisíveis e a simpatia da menina que nos atendeu foi o toque que faltava e a promessa de lá voltar ficou bem assente nas nossas intenções! 

Por isso, se forem de Guimarães ou simplesmente tiverem de passagem não se esqueçam de ir experimentar os deliciosos bolos acabadinhos de fazer e os mil sabores de chá que eles têm disponíveis.

Cupcakes On A Rainy Day

 English: This is what happens when some portuguese bloggers get together to eat ice-cream, cupcakes and drink coffee. Sadly the rain decided to make an appearance and the clock decided to run pretty fast but I can definitly say I have a lovely time. I didn't talk with everybody but that is what you get when you have social anxiety. Maybe some other time, I can't wait to spend another afternoon like this!

Português: É isto o que acontece quando um pequeno grupo bloggers se encontra durante uma tarde para comer gelados, cupcakes e beber café. Porém, a chuva decidiu fazer uma visita e o relógio não abrandou nem um segundo mas posso certamente dizer que passei um tempinho adorável com muitas destas caras que só conhecia da blogosfera. Infelizmente, não falei com toda a gente nem tanto quanto desejaria mas é isso o que acontece quando se tem fobia social, ai ai. Talvez noutra altura pois mal posso esperar por passar mais uma tardezinha assim!

Let's Move To Paris

Yesterday, me, my boyfriend and my friend Paulinha went to this lovely pastry house in Porto called Boulangerie de Paris that is, like the name says, inspired by the boulangeries from Paris. Me and Paulinha drank tea and ate macarons, while Zé ate a cake that was made of profiteroles. It tasted delicious!

Even with the rain and the cold, the day was nicely spent! We went to some vintage stores and I got myself a coat, a warm sweater and a blouse. I just can't wait to show it to you!

Also, I wore my brand new collar from Romwe! It arrived a couple of days ago and I feel like wearing it everyday!
